As an environmental scientist from New Zealand, my recent stay at Haka House by the lakefront was a study in luxury versus value. The newly refurbished hostel boasts stunning views over Lake Tekapo and the mountains, providing a picturesque backdrop for a budget-friendly stay. The communal kitchen, dining, and lounge areas were spacious and well-equipped, perfect for socializing and taking in the breathtaking scenery.Although the hostel was slightly overheated during my visit, the friendly staff and comfortable beds made up for it. The shared facilities were clean and modern, offering a high level of comfort at an affordable price point. The proximity to the Dark Sky Project was a definite bonus, allowing for easy access to this unique experience.For travelers seeking a mix of quality and affordability, Haka House delivers on both fronts. The value for money is evident in the well-maintained facilities and prime location. Whether you're a budget-conscious traveler or simply appreciate a good deal, this hostel is a wise choice for your next adventure in Lake Tekapo.
